Arts in Education Artist Roster application

The Council invites inquiries from practicing professional artists in all disciplines, who are experienced in their fields and can make a strong personal commitment to working in an educational setting with students, educators, administrators and parents. Interested artists should contact the Arts Education (AIE) Coordinator for additional information and application package preparation instructions and for assistance in developing their application.

On-site Informational Meeting and Tour for Artists Responding to National Guard, Building F Request for Artist Proposals: September 7, 2010, 2 p.m.

The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, through the Percent for Art program, is requesting proposals for existing and newly commissioned artwork and craftwork for interior and exterior spaces of the New Hampshire Army National Guard, Construction and Facilities Management Office, Building F in Concord, New Hampshire.

The On-site Informational Meeting and Tour will be held on Tuesday, September 7th at 2:00pm. Please bring your cameras and measuring tapes; blueprints will not be provided.

NHSCA Strategic Plan Available for Review through September 10, 2010
The grants, programs, and services of New Hampshire State Council on the Arts are guided careful and considered planning. Every few years a new Arts Plan is developed that outlines a strategy to meet the needs of the community and target our resources effectively. Each plan factors in the voices of the people we serve; the economic, social, and cultural circumstances of the times; and aligns with the resources we have available.

Our 2010-2013 Arts Plan extends the mission, values, guiding principles and goals from our 2005 to 2010 Arts Plan. The objectives and strategies have been revised to reflect our current resources and the current needs of our citizens.

Free Information Session for NH Poetry Out Loud 2011: September 13, 2010, 4 p.m.

Information session is open to high school principals, teachers, parents and students. Representatives from schools of all sizes and from all corners of New Hampshire are invited to attend.

Learn more about Poetry Out Loud, a national program that offers awards, scholarships and opportunities to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance.

Commissioner’s Roundtable on Cultural & Heritage Tourism: September 22, 2010, noon-2 p.m.

Join Van McLeod, commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Cultural Resources and members of the cultural and heritage tourism industry for a roundtable discussion, “Using statistics to tell your story.” Special guest: Mark Okrant, Professor of tourism management and Director of the Institute for New Hampshire Studies at Plymouth State University.

Roundtable takes place at the Flying Monkey Movie House & Performance Center in Plymouth, NH.

Conference for Teaching Artists: “The Play is the Thing: The Serious Work of Play”: September 23, 2010

Preregistration is required; early-bird registration (before September 6) is encouraged.

The critical importance of play in learning and human development is increasingly recognized, but we seem to have less and less space and time for it. This conference looks at the ways teaching artists can be leaders in supporting play – and the creativity it inspires – with learners of all ages and in their own lives.

The conference features juggler and MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipient Michael Moschen; Sara Boettrich, Museum Educator, Strong National Museum of Play; and workshops with artist-educators from across New England.

2010 Statewide Arts Education Conference, “Field of Vision”: October 22-24, 2010

The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts' annual Statewide Arts Education Conference, offers professional development for educators and teaching artists. The conference takes place at the AMC Highland Center, Crawford Notch, Bretton Woods.

The conference offers inspiring presentations, workshops, resources and networking opportunities for artists, educators, and community supporters of arts in education. Each year the conference explores a new theme and presents local, regional, and nationally respected leaders in the field of arts education. The theme for the 2010 conference is Field of Vision.
